²⁸ They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him, ²⁹ and when they wove a crown of thorns, they put it on His head and put a staff in His right hand. They knelt before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” ³⁰ They spit on Him, and took the staff and hit Him on the head.
